What are your plans for Lent?

A common theme that runs through this year’s Lenten Sunday Mass readings: an invitation to go deeper and deeper in our relationship with God.

If you love your spouse today the same way that you did during your first couple years of marriage, aren’t you living a superficial relationship? So much has happened to help you appreciate your spouse more and more since then, such as:

• seeing your spouse achieve new goals
• sharing fun adventures together
• facing trials together
• giving birth to a child or two
• watching that child grow

Our relationship with God should also deepen and broaden over time. Many of us, however, become content or satisfied today to pray the same way we prayed as a child or as a teenager. Lent invites us to go deeper.
