This year marks 75 years since the first nuclear weapons were dropped on Japan. The devastation horrified the world.

And yet, the threat of nuclear action remains all too present.

Dominican Sisters Carol Gilbert and Ardeth Platte have dedicated their lives to raising their voices for justice and global peace. They will speak at the Renewal Center

Their ministry over the last 25 years has been education, organizing and actions of nonviolence at the Pentagon, White House, embassies, United Nations, and at many nuclear and war sites throughout the United States, such as Air Force and Navy bases, and Y-12, the nuclear research facility at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Sisters Carol and Ardeth have spent a collective 15 years in jails and prisons for their nonviolent, anti-war actions.

Now they are on a national tour promoting the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, a landmark global agreement to ban nuclear weapons adopted July 7, 2017, by an overwhelming majority of member states of the United Nations.
