Wednesday, Second Week of Advent

A New Video Series: Coffee with Padre

Today’s Readings

Welcome to Precious Blood Center as we celebrate this second Wednesday of Advent.

How worn out and tired are we feeling today? Has the holiday season caught up to us? Are these gloomy days leaving us wanting for the sunshine? How much do we struggle with getting up in the morning? As my great uncle would say, “My gitty up and go, done got up and left without me.” There are those days we seem to just be hanging in there. Where do we find rays of sunshine in these gloomy days?

Do we hear the words of hope through the prophet Isiah? Isiah speaks to a people who struggled. A people who felt worn and tired and as if no one else cared. How much do we feel that today in our own lives?

We need those words of hope and inspiration. We need a prophet to speak to our hearts and remind us of a God who is always present to us. His words speak to our hearts today knowing we are called by name.

Isaiah’s words remind us there are none equal to God and yet God is right with us. God does not place himself above us or hide himself from us.

Unlike humans, God never grows tired or weary.

As parents, how many times do you tire from having to work and take care of the home and take care of the children? How many times have your children begged you to spend time with them when all you want to do is sit and chill after a long day at work? Or they wake you up early on a day off or weekend because they are ready to go and explore and you just want to sleep in?

How do we respond to others who ask us for help when we really could care less or feel we don’t have the time or the strength to deal with just one more thing?

May we take a cue from today’s prophet as Isiah speaks of God: They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles’ wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.

When we feel tired and overwhelmed, do we try to keep doing it all ourselves, or do we take upon the yoke of Jesus and share the load with him? Finding someone to lean on, someone to support us, someone to give us strength?

New videos in the Coffee with Padre Advent Series are posted Sundays and Wednesdays at 6:30 a.m.

How much work do you have to do today? Can you do it all alone or will you allow someone to help you?

Thank you for joining us today. We invite you to join us again Sunday, Dec 15 for the Third Sunday of Advent.

Blessings on your Advent journey.

New videos are posted at 6:30 a.m. on Sundays and Wednesdays during Advent.
